WAR PAINTING was nominated for the 2026 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, and was 2026 Finalist for the Blue Ink Award from American Blues Theater, Chicago.

About the Playwright:
Caridad Svich’s honors include induction into the College of Fellows of American Theatre, Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship in Drama, an Obie for Lifetime Achievement, an NNPN Rolling World Premiere, the National Latine Playwriting Award, and the American Theatre Critics Primus Prize. Their work has been seen across the US and abroad. Key plays: 12 Ophelias, Iphigenia Crash Land Falls…, Red Bike, and The House of the Spirits (based on Isabel Allende’s novel). A collection of her Latine Shakespeare-inspired plays is forthcoming from Methuen Drama. Feature Film debut as co-screenwriter with Fugitive Dreams, based on her play, which premiered at the Fantasia Film Festival, is now on Apple Tv. A workshop of her performance piece Minotaur, collaborating with Scott Shepherd, Joshua Willliam Gelb and Rory Willats, was seen with CultureHub and Theater in Quarantine in 2025.

About the Cast:
Gregg Mozgala (Quinn/Esra) has an extensive acting career with appearances on Broadway and at renowned theaters such as Manhattan Theatre Club, The Public Theater, New York Theatre Workshop Pasadena Playhouse and the Old Globe. He received a Lucille Lortel Award for his role in “Cost of Living” and a Drama League Distinguished Performance Award nomination for “Teenage Dick.” Mozgala is featured in M. Night Shyamalan’s music video for Grammy-winning recording artist Andra Day’s song, “Rise Up” and stars in the award-winning documentary “Enter the Faun.” He founded The Apothetae, a theater company focused on exploring and illuminating the “Disabled Experience;” which was recently awarded a 2026 OBIE for significant contributions to Off-Broadway theater.

About the Sound Designer:
Matthew M. Nielson (Sound Design) is a five-time Helen Hayes Award-winning composer and sound designer whose work spans regional theater, film, television, and podcasting. Over a 25-year career he has designed and composed for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the Guthrie Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Arena Stage, and the Public Theater/NYSF, among many others He is represented by Bret Adams Ltd.
About the Stage Manager:
Caden Cristiano is Assistant Operations Manager at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, and is also a stage manager with a BA in Stage Management from Pace University.
