ACCOUNTABILITY

The Lucille Lortel Theatre and Foundation have always sought to uplift and enfranchise artists. We were founded to present bold and illuminating works, and to empower artists who may not have had the opportunity for their voices to be heard. We recognize that disabilities, and social, economic, and other barriers have excluded many artists, staff, and audiences from full participation in our activities. While we have taken steps to become more inclusive, we can do more.

As a leading Off-Broadway organization, we recognize that fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment is fundamental to serving our community. We commit ourselves to following our Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism, and Anti-Ableism policies, which were developed by our staff.

STATEMENT ON HATE CRIMES AGAINST ASIAN AMERICAN PACIFIC ISLANDERS

Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, America has seen a rise of attacks on people of Asian descent. The Lucille Lortel Theatre and Lucille Lortel Foundation stand in solidarity with the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities in New York and across the country against the latest wave of hate crimes against AAPI individuals across the country.

WE WILL NOT ALLOW VOICES TO GO UNHEARD OR INJUSTICE TO PREVAIL.

The Lucille Lortel Theatre stands with all people of color, their families, and their communities. We grieve the outrageous killing of black men and women, and join in the fight against continued institutional racism and racial injustice.
