PRODUCTIONS RENTING THE LUCILLE LORTEL THEATRE EDIA POLICY
In order to further our commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism, we will:
- Continue to subsidize the cost of renting the theater to make it accessible to not-for-profit companies of varying financial resources.
- Encourage productions to have diverse artists, production staff, and producers.
- Prioritize productions with diverse artists, production staff, and producers.
- Inform renters of our EDIA policy and ask them to match that policy to the best of their ability, recognizing that some of those principles come at a financial cost.
*What do we mean by Marginalized?
When we use the term Marginalized, we are describing a person or group that is treated insignificantly, pushed to the margins of society and rendered powerless. Marginalized groups include Black, Asian, Latine, and Indigenous peoples; women; people with disabilities; the LGBTQIA2S+ community; people of a lower socio-economic status and many others. All of these groups have been historically disempowered and oppressed by influential and discriminatory groups.
