The Lortel Theatre’s box office is open three hours prior to curtain time. Advance sales are not available 30 minutes prior to curtain.

Late Seating
Late seating policies vary by show. Late seating is at the discretion of House Management. Some shows do not allow re-entry during the performance. Please check the Currently Playing page for more information on the production you are attending.
Directions to the Theatre
Google Maps will provide step-by-step directions from any location by car or public transportation. Check updated public transit routes within New York City on the MTA website.
By Train
Take the number 1 train to Christopher Street. Walk west one and a half blocks down the street. The Theatre is between Bleecker and Hudson Streets.
Alternatively, take the ACE or BDFM trains to the West 4th/Washington Square stop. Walk north up 6th Avenue (Avenue of the Americas). Turn left on Waverly Place and then left on Stonewall Place, which turns into Christopher Street after crossing over Seventh Avenue. Walk one and a half blocks down Christopher Street to the Lucille Lortel Theatre.
By Bus
Take the M8 bus, which runs east to west along 9th Street (which turns into Christopher Street). The bus stops just after the Theatre on Christopher Street and Hudson Street. The M20 Uptown bus also stops at Christopher Street and Hudson Street.
By Car
From the east side, take the FDR to Houston Street. Take Houston Street west to the Avenue of the Americas. Take the right fork in the road onto Bedford Street. Bedford Street dead ends into Christopher Street at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.
From the west side, take Seventh Avenue to Christopher Street. Make a right on Christopher Street. The Theatre is one and a half blocks down on the right side of the street between Bleecker and Hudson Streets.
The nearest parking garage is at 332 West 11th Street between Greenwich and Washington Streets (212-741-9079).
Restrooms
Restrooms are located on the Mezzanine level (second floor) for ticketed patrons only. Restrooms are accessible when the house opens, approximately one half-hour before the performance is scheduled to begin.
All restrooms in the theatre are gender-neutral.
Special-Access Restroom
There is an accessible restroom located on the first floor of the theatre, which is open prior to, during intermission and after performances. Please inform the House Manager if you need assistance. This restroom is not available during the performance.
Water Fountain
A water fountain is located only on the Mezzanine level up a flight of 20 steps.
Assistive Listening System
The theatre is equipped with a Radio Frequency Listening System. Listening devices are provided at no charge. Identification (driver’s license, major credit card, passport, etc.) is required as a deposit.
Headphones and induction neck loops available, or you may connect your personal earphones via a 3.5mm jack.

Wheelchair Seating
There are 6 seats in the front of the house that are for ADA use plus seats for their companions. They can be removed if needed. If you will need a seat removed, it is helpful to notify us ahead of time so we can have it ready for you.
Wheelchair locations are orchestra center A102, A103, A106, A107, orchestra left B5, and orchestra right B6. These seats are 24″ wide.
There are also three transfer seats (armrests lift) located in the orchestra. They are orchestra left C1, orchestra left L1, and orchestra center F110.
If you use a wheelchair but would prefer to transfer to a seat, House Management can store your wheelchair during the show. House Management can also assist in storing other assistive devices (walker, cane, crutches, etc).
Ramp for Wheelchairs and Motorized Chairs
The ramp entrance to the first floor of the theatre is accessible for wheelchairs and motorized chairs. The orchestra is accessible via a ramp located in the lobby; the ramp is 42” wide. Theatre aisles are 35” wide.

Width of Theatre Seats
Seat widths range from 19” to 20” in the mezzanine. Seats range from 19″ to 24” in orchestra.
Pets and Service Animals
No animals are permitted in the theatre with the exception of service animals. If you have a service animal, we invite you to contact us ahead of time at geninfo@lortel.org.
Lost and Found
The theatre provides a lost and found service. Patrons can call the theatre box office at (212) 402-8249 or email geninfo@lortel.org to inquire about lost items.
Concessions
A bar and concession stand with soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, and light snacks is available at most performances. The bar is located in the mezzanine. House Management is available to assist patrons who would like to purchase concessions but cannot make it up the stairs.
Coat and Bag Check
The theatre does not provide a coat or bag check service. The theatre is not responsible for luggage, packages, strollers, or any other items brought to the performance by patrons.
