WHAT IS THE 121 PROJECT?
Every musical is at different stages of development
Some are at the early stages and need SPACE TO WRITE
Some are looking for DRAMATURGICAL SUPPORT
Some want to explore the PHYSICAL LANGUAGE of the piece
Some need to workshop VOCAL ARRANGEMENTS
The 121 Project is NOT about presenting readings but doing
tailored development that will move your show forward.
This program is for the writer who wants to work on a specific aspect of their musical.

121 Project provides up to $10,000 of support based upon the specific needs of your project.
WHAT TYPE OF MUSICAL CAN I SUBMIT?
ANY style or genre of musical theater!
(But you need to have the underlying rights)
HOW DOES IT WORK?
ROUND 1
- Submit a one-page synopsis or a one-minute audio synopsis of your show
- Submit two contrasting songs and lyric sheets
- Submit one page or a one-minute audio pitch about why you are passionate about telling this story
If you are selected to move forward in the process….
ROUND 2
- Submit 30 pages of the script
- Submit 3 additional songs and lyric sheets
- Submit a short bio of each creative team member
If you are selected to move forward in the process….
ROUND 3
- Submit full script (if available)
- Submit all songs and lyrics (if available)
- Submit a one page or a one-minute audio description of your developmental journey
- Submit a one page or a one-minute audio description of what specific development your musical needs
- Interview with Michael Heitzman, Artistic Director for New Musical Development
Submissions open October 1st at 10am.
Submissions will close when we receive 121 applications, or Oct 15, 2024
